The St. John’s Committes are defined by the church Constitution and designed to maintain the worship vitality, spiritual health, outreach efforts and physical properties of the church community. A Church Council Representative is appointed for a one year term to maintain the activities of the committee. That representative is not necessarily the chairperson or the person responsible for its activities. The church membership is welcomed and encouraged to join these committees so their continued existence has consistent direction and activity to assure the vibrancy of our church life.

Purpose:

Concern for teaching, stimulation and promotion of a total Stewardship of life among all members of the parish.  It shall be concerned for the needs of the parish and support of program necessary in the mission of Christ. 

Objective: Develop programs for the growth of good stewardship attitudes in the members of the congregation regarding time, talent, treasures.  To ensure the financial stability of the parish and its missions.

 Council Representative’s Responsibilities:

 v      Attend Council meeting on a regular basis.

v     Work in conjunction with the Stewardship committee.

v      To develop programs for the growth of good stewardship attitudes in the members of the congregation regarding time, talents and treasures. (Time and Talent Brochures.)

v      To provide for the training of members for their service for the work of Christ’s Kingdom.

v      To ensure the financial stability of the congregation and its mission through a program of dedicated giving emphasizing proportionate growth giving.

v     Overseeing that quarterly reports go out, especially 3^rd quarters.

v     Evaluate any special requests that are raised beyond normal concerns of the support by the congregation.

v     Study the subject of stewardship according to the Bible and also from books or studies for personal growth.

v     Conduct insightful studies and in general attempt to promote education in stewardship throughout the parish.

v     Support opportunities for members through training courses or workshops to sharpen skills for use in parish programs.

a.                   To confront all members with a growing concept of total stewardship.

b.                  To give opportunity for all to commit of their means to the mission of Christ’s Kingdom.

v     Foster total support of all extended mission work through Benevolence.

a.                   Education through speakers, materials, etc.

 v     Evaluate any special requests that are raised beyond those normally in the ongoing concerns of the support by the congregation.

v     Develop a foundation into which bequests and legacies may be given and from which special work can be funded.

v     Inform the congregation regularly regarding support of the budget and general financial status of the parish.
