The Befriender Ministry was developed to train lay people to assist the Pastor in providing care, support and comfort to those in need.  The Befrienders are trained volunteers who may be called upon to make hospital visits, visits to shut-ins, provide transportation to appointments, do errands for those unable to drive themselves, or to answer any number of needs for those in the congregation.  Their role is that of Christian caregiver.  St. Johnʼs has 10 trained Befrienders.  If you are interested in training for this ministry please phone Marj Hipke (882-4476) or Deanna Jeans (882-5829).

Befrienders

The Christian life is one of service and love toward others. That is the call from God to every one of us; it’s a joyful responsibility that we
share. The Befrienders of St. John’s have a particular call to extend the care and help of our congregation to people in need. Some additional
training prepares them to do just that kind of service. Do you have any special needs or challenges? Would you like to be better connected to
your congregation? Maybe you want someone to pray with you or just to listen. Think of St. John’s Befrienders. We’re here to extend the pastor’s and congregation’s care to you…emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically. We have Befrienders who are glad to perform small home projects, assist with shopping, and provide transportation to appointments or worship. Call the church office (882-4044) to get
connected.

NOTE to Befrienders (and all those interested in being a Befriender): our next training will be Tuesday, November 22, at 6:30pm, in the
church library lounge.
