Our members participate in many projects of out reaching to others, quilting, coffee fellowship, bazaar, worship and raising money for Phase II of carpet fund and providing Christmas cheer to others.
Anyone is welcomed to join is in the Study of God’s word. Please contact Glenace Smelcer for further information.

SEWERS NEEDED FOR LWR SCHOOL BAGS AND BABY SLEEPERS
Do you need a winter sewing project? We need people to sew school bags and sleepers for Baby Care kits. LWR has asked that all sleepers
have “no feet”. Because we have many sleepers “with feet”, we need sewers to cut off the feet and put a small hem on them. Please consider
doing this project and serving in mission.
QUILT SQUARES AVAILABLE FOR SEWERS
The quilting ladies have prepared some quilt squares that a ready for assembly into a quilt top. If you can help with this project it would be
very much appreciated. The squares are located on the table for LWR.

Every Sunday morning after worship we enjoy a time of conversation over refreshments. This fellowship fuels our bodies and our spirits. Please consider signing up for one Sunday to donate pastries and serve. We would like a team of three for each Sunday. If you add your name, we’ll help recruit your team and give you a reminder. See the calendars posted on the kiosk in the narthex (gathering area).
Befrienders

The Christian life is one of service and love toward others. That is the call from God to every one of us; it’s a joyful responsibility that we share. The Befrienders of St. John’s have a particular call to extend the care and help of our congregation to people in need. Some additional training prepares them to do just that kind of service. Do you have any special needs or challenges? Would you like to be better connected to your congregation? Maybe you want someone to pray with you or just to listen. Think of St. John’s Befrienders. We’re here to extend the pastor’s and congregation’s care to you…emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically. We have Befrienders who are glad to perform small home projects, assist with shopping, and provide transportation to appointments or worship. Call the church office (882-4044) to get connected.
NOTE to Befrienders (and all those interested in being a Befriender): Training discussions are ongoing and scheduled monthly.

St. John’s invites you to lend your voice and/or your musical talent through two musical groups. The St. John’s Choir and the Praise Team
both enhance our worship and support the singing of the congregation. The Praise Team provides musical leadership for worship twice a month (2nd and 4th Sundays). Rehearsal is often the Thursday prior, at 7pm. Our St. John’s Choir sings together regularly on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, with rehearsal on Sunday at 8am. All youth and adults are welcome. We want you to add your voice or instrument to help us all lift our praises to God! Talk to Pastor Matt or Kitty Ver Kuilen for more information.

Make fellowship part of your Sunday morning experience at St. John’s. Grab a treat and a cup of coffee. Greet an old friend and meet a new one. No need to be shy. Ask someone what their name is, how long they’ve been around St. John’s, what the do during the week, and before you know, you have a new friend. You might learn something new, too. Then we’ll all head off to learning hour from 10:15 am to 11:15 am.

Invitation to Baptism

Filed under Current News, Join us?!
As Lutheran Christians we baptize people of all ages, including infants, but not only infants. We are also eager
to welcome older children and adults to be washed in the waters of holy baptism. Perhaps you or someone you
know has never been baptized and wants to receive this sacred gift of God. Maybe you didn’t grow up in a
household that practiced the Christian faith. Or you were raised in a tradition that did not baptize infants. It is
never too late to be baptized. Jesus himself was baptized at about the age of 30. At whatever age you are baptized, it’s always an occasion for deep joy and celebration. To begin preparation for baptism for you or a member of your household of any age, contact Pastor Matt at 882-4044, or pastor@stjohns-lc.org.
